HISTORY of Light a Dream
1999: How We Began
Light a Dream was established in the fall of 1999. The project began as an extension to the LBPSB / JAC Cooperative Education Program for individuals with an intellectual disability or Autism between the ages of 18 and 21.
2000: Our First Location
In the fall of 2000, a storefront location was found in the Pointe-Claire Village. Under the supervision of a group of staff and parent volunteers. Students here are encouraged to contribute to and be included in the business world.

In the fall of 2000, under the supervision of staff and parent volunteers, Light a Dream opened its first Store Front location in Pointe-Claire Village. Students here are encouraged to contribute to and be included in the business world.
2001: Our Second Location
Light a Dream relocated just a few doors down from our original shop. this new location provided much needed space and additional vocational opportunities to the students i.e gardening, loan care etc. We stayed here for the next 10 years.
2011: Our Third Location
The building which many considered our home was sold and we needed to relocate. After much searching, a location in Dorval was found. We stayed here for 6 years.
2016: Our Current Location
At the end of our lease, it was decided that it would be in the best interest of Light a Dream to relocate to an area with a more Village like setting, which in turn, was both safe and easily accessible by public transportation for our students. We found a place in Valois Village and due to its strong sense of community, we decided it was the perfect spot for us.
